Windows 11 is adding another Copilot button nobody asked for

Microsoft has introduced a new Copilot button in the Windows 11 Insider Preview, allowing users to share the contents of an open app in their taskbar with Copilot Vision. This AI chatbot scans the screen, analyzes it, and allows users to discuss the contents with Microsoft's AI chatbot for more context and tutorials. While there are already Copilot buttons in Microsoft Paint, Notepad, the taskbar, keyboard, and some PCs, there is no apparent demand for more. Additionally, the Windows 11 preview features a useful Copilot feature that translates on-screen text. Microsoft claims that it is just "trying out this taskbar capability," so users should not be surprised if it is axed in an upcoming build before it is released to regular users.

Prime members can get three months of Kindle Unlimited for free

Amazon is offering a limited-time free three-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited for Prime members. The service typically costs $11.99 per month, saving $35.97 over the trial period. The discount is part of Amazon's early Prime Big Deal Days deals, dropping well ahead of the October 7th event. Kindle Unlimited provides access to over four million books, thousands of audiobooks, and magazines. Users can download items from the library onto a Kindle or any device with the Kindle app. The library is large enough to find books in your favorite genres and authors, and three months is enough time to read a full series or two. Before subscribing, users can browse the Kindle Unlimited library to find books they are interested in, including must-reads like The Canterbury Tales and The Expanse series. Kindle Unlimited also allows reading manga and comics on a color screen, providing a full experience.

Shorts creators will have access to Google's text-to-video generative AI model, Veo 3, a remixing tool, and an "Edit with AI" feature.
