Microsoft’s Windows AI Lab is a new way to test experimental features
Microsoft is initiating experimental AI-powered features through the Windows AI Labs program, as confirmed in a recent statement reported by The Verge. This pilot program aims to assess innovative AI feature concepts in Windows, focusing on gathering rapid customer feedback regarding usability, interest, and market viability. References to this initiative were found in pre-release updates for Microsoft Paint, indicating its potential inclusion in future updates. Although specific Paint features under evaluation have not yet been disclosed, recent enhancements to Paint resemble functionalities seen in Adobe's Photoshop, suggesting that AI tools may integrate similar capabilities. Furthermore, Microsoft is broadening the scope of AI functionalities across various Windows applications, introducing free AI tools in Notepad, image generation abilities in Paint, and AI functionalities in File Explorer. These advancements indicate Microsoft's commitment to evolving Windows through AI technologies.
Tado’s new AI features will adaptively heat your home
Tado, a smart thermostat company, is enhancing its services with the introduction of AI-powered features designed to improve home heating efficiency. The new AI Assist update expands upon the existing Auto Assist offerings by implementing advanced machine learning capabilities that aim to “learn, predict, and optimize” heating in real time. Available immediately in Europe and the UK for all Tado X device owners, AI Assist is priced the same as Tado's current subscription model (£29.99 per year or £3.99 per month), with existing Auto Assist subscribers receiving automatic upgrades. However, users of older Tado hardware will not benefit from these new AI features.
Gemini AI will help you play games on Google Play
Google is set to introduce a new feature for its Gemini AI assistant that aids users in mobile games. This feature, called Gemini Live, will be integrated into an overlay for selected games downloaded from the Play Store, allowing players to obtain hints without leaving the game interface. This update, expected to roll out in the coming months, is comparable to Microsoft's Gaming Copilot found in Xbox and Windows 11. Gemini Live enables the AI to "see" the player's screen, allowing it to provide tailored suggestions as players ask questions aloud, with audible responses from the assistant.
In addition to this feature, the in-game overlay will display information about rewards, offers, and achievements. Google is also expanding its initiative to offer Google Play Games on PC, which follows the beta launch three years ago, now allowing access to over 200,000 games across mobile and PC platforms.
Other updates in the Google Play Store include enhanced game pages that summarize game progress, achievements, and developer news, as well as the introduction of a feature allowing users to ask and answer questions about games directly on the Play Store in certain markets, enabling interaction among players.
