Google’s new AI feature lets you virtually try on clothes

Google has launched a new AI feature that allows users to virtually try on clothes. The feature, which allows users to upload a photo of themselves, is now available in the US, allowing users to try on apparel items in Google's Shopping Graph across Search, Google Shopping, and product results on Google Images. Users can save looks and share them with friends. The new feature is part of Google's ongoing investment in the virtual try-on space, following the launch of an experimental app called Doppl that uses AI to visualize different outfits. Google's new price alerts allow users to specify the amount they want to spend on an item, specifying their preferred size, color, and price. The feature for outfit and room design inspiration will be available this fall, allowing users to get style inspiration for various designs.

Samsung backs a video AI startup that can analyze thousands of hours of footage

Memories.ai is an AI platform that can process up to 10 million hours of video, providing a contextual layer with searchable indexing, tagging, segments, and aggregation. Co-founded by Dr. Shawn Shen and Enmin Zhou, the company aims to help security and marketing companies analyze video content across many hours. It has raised $8 million in a seed funding round led by Susa Ventures, with participation from Samsung Next, Fusion Fund, Crane Ventures, Seedcamp, and Creator Ventures. Memories.ai envisions an AI assistant that can gain context on a user's life via photos or smart glasses, potentially playing a role in training humanoid robots or self-driving cars.

Microsoft’s AI CEO thinks Copilot will age and ‘have a room that it lives in’

Microsoft's AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman has a vision of Copilot being highly personalized, with the goal of it aging and having a permanent identity. The company is launching a new Copilot virtual character called Copilot Appearance, which will interact in real-time with users, powered by real-time expressions, voice, and conversational memory. Copilot Appearance will smile, nod, and act surprised depending on the conversation. Early access is live in Microsoft's Copilot Labs, but it will only work for a subset of users in the US, UK, and Canada. Microsoft is moving slowly with the rollout of Copilot Appearance due to alleged harmful messages sent by similar conversational chatbots to teens. Suleyman has hinted that Microsoft might turn its AI attention to the Windows desktop, as he dislikes the noisy and neon design of the desktop. He wants a quieter, simpler, and optimized working environment, and is considering changes to the Copilot app on Windows or Copilot Plus PCs.
