Google’s Gemini AI app could soon be getting a big makeover
Google is set to enhance its Gemini AI app with a visually oriented interface, moving away from the chatbot model, in response to OpenAI's successful Sora app. The revamped Gemini will showcase a scrollable feed with suggested prompts and appealing images, featuring functionalities like "Create Image" and "Deep Research." Creative prompts will inspire users with various engagement ideas. This update aims to strengthen Google's competitive position against OpenAI, particularly as ChatGPT maintains a simpler design, and will capitalize on the success of Gemini's AI image model, Nano Banana, which has boosted its App Store ranking.
If you’re not an AI startup, good luck raising money from VCs
New PitchBook data shows that AI is increasingly dominating startup investment, with projections indicating that 2025 will see AI accounting for over half of all VC investment. So far this year, VCs have invested $192.7 billion in AI out of $366.8 billion total investments. In the last quarter, AI represented 62.7% of U.S. VC investments and 53.2% globally, with significant funding directed towards companies like Anthropic. However, the total number of startups and funds successfully raising capital is at a historic low, with only 823 funds raised globally in 2025 compared to 4,430 in 2022. PitchBook's director Kyle Sanford noted a bifurcation in the market, emphasizing a divide between AI-focused firms and others.
Anker offered Eufy camera owners $2 per video for AI training
Anker, the Chinese company behind Eufy security cameras, launched a campaign from December 18, 2024, to February 25, 2025, to collect videos of thefts for AI training, offering users $2 per video. Participants could stage thefts and earn up to $80, with Eufy targeting 20,000 videos of package and car thefts. While over 120 users participated, details on total payouts and video volume were not disclosed. Eufy also introduced ranking and reward systems for video donations, with a user reportedly submitting over 201,000 videos. However, privacy concerns arose when it was discovered that Eufy's supposedly encrypted camera streams were accessible unencrypted, leading Anker to acknowledge misleading practices and vow to improve user privacy.
