Google Gemini can now create AI-generated bedtime stories

Google has introduced a new feature called "Storybook" within its Gemini AI chatbot, allowing users to create illustrated stories by simply describing them. The feature generates 10-page stories with a short paragraph of text and an illustration, and users can customize their stories using specific art styles. Google also allows users to upload photos and images for Gemini to reference. However, some users found inconsistencies in character designs and AI weirdness in some stories. The feature is available globally on desktop and mobile, including in all the languages Gemini currently supports.

The best smartwatches for Android

Android smartwatches have seen significant growth in recent years, with Wear OS 5 available for older Samsung Galaxy Watches, Google's Pixel Watch 3, and OnePlus Watch 3. Wear OS 6 will be available for more smartwatches later this year, but some may be left behind. Platform-agnostic smartwatches and fitness watches can be purchased in the meantime. It's important to be aware of the Wear OS version powering your watch, as Mobvoi has been slow to release the latest version. Additionally, consider the watch's processor and last-gen model.

Microsoft makes OpenAI’s new open model available on Windows

OpenAI has released a new GPT model that can run on a PC, and Microsoft has made it accessible for Windows users. The lightweight gpt-oss-20b model is now available on Windows AI Foundry and will soon be available on macOS. To use it, a PC or laptop with at least 16GB of VRAM is required, and a top GPU from Nvidia or the variety of Radeon GPUs with sufficient VRAM. Microsoft has pre-optimized gpt-oss-20b for local inference and suggests support for more devices in the future. This is the first time OpenAI models can run locally on Windows, and it adds another dynamic to the OpenAI and Microsoft partnership.
